East Sussex Community Transport Operators Association

Community Transport Volunteers

Community transport is only possible because of the dedication and support of an army of local volunteers. However, community transport operators are always looking for more volunteers to undertake a number of roles including drivers, trustees, fundraisers, passenger assistants and administators.

Volunteers come from all walks of life and say their work is very rewarding:

What's involved?

Volunteers can specify which days and times they are available and which type of work they would wish to do.

Volunteer drivers

All drivers are asked to provide references, have a current driving licence and be prepared to have a DBS/CRB check. This is because many passengers are vulnerable and need assurances they are safeguarded against potential risks. All drivers are required to undertake a free short training course before they can drive for any community transport operator. Most trips are in and around the local towns, but some are further afield.
